New EIZ Act to benefit public |

The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) says the New EIZ 2010 Act will benefit the general public. Speaking at the Kwacha Good Morning Zambia show on ZNBC, EIZ Deputy Registrar Benjamin Musonda said that the New Act will be of great benefit to the general public because engineers will act in the most prudent and professional way as compared to the previous years. |

Use of non-engineers for engineering works illegal |

The use of unqualified personnel in engineering works impacts negatively on the out come of the product, Engineers Registration Board chairman Charles Wamukwamba has noted. Speaking at the official launch of the EIZ 2010 Act at The Hotel Intercontinental in Lusaka, Eng Wamukwamba observed that some personnel found on various sites for both contractors and consultants were different from those that were proposed during the bidding process. |

The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) successfully launched its 2010 Act at the ceremony officiated by Communications and Transport Deputy Minister Mubika Mubika. The ceremony which took place at the Hotel Intercontinental marked a new era for the Institution. Speaking during the ceremony, Mr Mubika said on the repealed Act no. 27 of 19192, it was inadequate in dealing with many issues which include membership and registration at all levels of the profession.

The Engineering fraternity has welcomed the new EIZ 2010 Act which came into law on July 9, 2010. The new EIZ 2010 Act focuses on the holistic governance of EIZ and regulation of engineering in Zambia through the membership and registration of Engineering. |
