From now onwards, I have the privilege of leading the Institution in the classic sense of leading EIZ members, individually and organizationally, for the next 12 months. As interesting as that would be, I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE OF LEADERSHIP. Not leadership in the context I just made reference to, but leadership by the profession in a public role in the theme areas of professional practice, infrastructure, Industry and environment. I would like to point out that to have an effective public role, engineers, as a profession, must adopt that role as integral to their profession. Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) President Henry Musonda has thanked the 54th Council and the secretariat for the input they put for the betterment of the Institution.
The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with the Engineers Registration Board (EngRB) has introduced a radio programme dubbed ‘The Engineer’ on Radio Phoenix The programme scheduled to start on 9th February 2010 is expected to give an opportunity to members of the public to air their views on the engineering issues in Zambia.
The programme scheduled to start on 9th February 2010 is expected to give an opportunity to members of the public to air their views on the engineering issues in Zambia. This live programme will be held every Tuesday and will run for 15 weeks until 28th May 2010. Among other issues to be discussed include the future of EIZ with the expected new Act. EIZ President Henry Musonda said this is an opportunity for the public to have a direct communication with the engineers. Mr Musonda said the programme has come at the right time especially that there is transformation taking place in the institution. “We encourage the public to take advantage of this live programme so that they can air their views on engineering issues taking place in the country,” Mr Musonda said. He advised EIZ regions and district officials to participate in the programme as a way of giving feedback to the public.
